Condivido la parte dell'intervista di Alan Rickman presente nel DVD Close my eyes incentrata sul personaggio di Sinclair poichè mi pare non sia presente: visto che è relativa al personaggio la inserisco qui, se poi è meglio che stia nella discussione "Interviste" può essere spostata.
Ho cercato di condividere il filmato, ma per quanto lo abbia spezzato via via sempre di più, non sono mai riuscita a ridurre il peso degli allegati ad un livello tale da poter essere "uploaddabili". Mi spiace.
Non è che le riprese siano eccelse, perchè effettuate con camera fissa e inquadratura "quasi solo testa", tuttavia l'atmosfera è gradevolmente soffusa.
Avevo postato degli screenshot nelle foto generiche, ora ne inserisco una qui anche se non è parte del film. A me questa versione "caramella mou"
di A.R. non spiace (in ogni caso, cancellate/spostate tutto ciò che ritenete!!)
L'intervista poi procede con temi in generale già conosciuti, però devo risentirla fino alla fine perchè non me la ricordo bene.

Alan Rickman on SinclairI liked his energy and the fact that he’s curious about everything and looked at the people straight in the eyes, he didn’t kind to ignore people …. Curious about everything but completely hopeless with the dishwasher and couldn’t even work out that there is a on-off switch. You Know he is in the kitchen, surrounded by suds and he hasn’t actually turned the damn thing off ... so that’s endearing ….. and his curiosity gives you a sense of his energy. But that wouldn’t be enough were it not for the fact that he gets caught up in a human situation which is completely outside his experience and education .. where he comes from and what he ever expected to encounter, I liked the fact that he dealt with it sensitively…. I think he does know what’s going on at the end, but he has not the vocabulary to discuss that and in a way that’s one of his strength I suppose, is that ..there’s a just a kind of silent caring for her, cos I think, if my memory serves me correctly, he’s stroking an injury on her leg, putting some cream on her leg and saying “I don’t want to know”, but as far as I was concerned, the way he says “I don’t want to know” said he really knew, but I don’t’ know where you’d begin. I think what’s great about him is that he didn’t say “get out of my house” in any kind of Victorian manner. He was gonna deal with it. That was pretty grown up.
I came back from America straight into, well, I think they were two thirds of the way through the shoot. I decided to turn that on my advantage, I didn’t have any options, you know …. ehm …. I just thought it was an interesting atmosphere to walk into and I thought “Well, that’s a Sinclair kind of thing, this is interesting” and used that energy to my advantage, I think. And well Sinclair’s a sort of lack of knowledge about personal things, so the difficulty was, of course, developing a sort of personal relationship with Saskia, but I knew her from before, so, ehm, that was easier than it might have been. And then it just honestly became practical like filming does ehm you know, all of that nonsense, arty nonsense, goes out of the window … and you find yourself, because it was the hottest summer that … I mean, the film was blessed in that sense, because it was lifted into an atmosphere of its own, everyday that we needed it there was this blazing sun, sometimes more than we needed it … You know, we were shooting a pic-nic and the cheese is melting into the cloth , we can’t eat it cos it’ now glue … ehm … and we were having to use sun shades and it turn … ehm … Cliveden and that area of the river into something mysterious almost like out Beverly Hills if there were a river in Beverly Hills that’s what it would look like. So you were constantly made uneasy about the surroundings.
I suppose the decision I took about Sinclair and his attitude to money was that he was born to it. It wasn’t, you know, he wasn’t a self-made man, in that sense. I think he’s obviously clever at business, but it’s been something he’s been surrounded by all his life. And so, therefore, much like many of the British upper classes they do have sense of humor and irony and devil-may-care-ness about money … ehm… I suppose I was feeding off of that to a large extent.
Sinclair sex life’s the sex life of a many British male I think … you know you … I don’t know about him because he’s fictional, but … ehm … when I was at school, an all-boys school, there was absolutely no sex education, we used to have to beg the divinity master to “tell us about sex, sir”, instead of religion. Ad that was … That was just in a kind of titillating way … it wasn’t really to get any information although I suppose we must have done because he was a responsible guy. And I’m sure Sinclair comes from that background …. It’s ….it’s just ignorance … and when he makes love to his wife and then turns over and reads a book, I don’t think it’s out of a hard heart or insensitive soul … he just doesn’t know (laugh) that there night be something else.

Mi piacque il fatto che lo affronta in modo sensibile … io penso che alla fine lui capisca cosa sta accadendo, ma non è in possesso del vocabolario per esprimerlo e in un certo modo questa è una sua forza, credo, è che …..c’è un sorta di prendersi cura di lei silenziosamente, perché penso [NdT: meglio “mi ricordo”], se la memoria mi assiste correttamente, che lui cura una ferita sulla gamba di lei, applicando della crema sulla sua gamba dicendo “non voglio sapere”, ma per quanto mi riguarda, il modo in cui dice “non voglio sapere” dice che lui realmente sa, ma “non so dove sia iniziata”. Io penso che la cosa grandiosa [di lui] sia che non dice “Uscite fuori dalla mia casa” in un qualche stile vittoriano. Lo stava affrontando. Il che è [un atteggiamento] piuttosto maturo.
Io arrivai dall’America dritto dentro [al film], penso che fossero ai due terzi delle riprese. Decisi [allora] di girare la cosa a mio vantaggio, non avevo altre opzioni, vedi … ehm … pensai solo che era un’atmosfera interessante nella quale addentrarsi e pensai “Bene, questa è una cosa alla Sinclair, questo è interessante” e usai quest’energia a mio vantaggio, credo. E, bene, Sinclair ha una sorta di mancanza di conoscenza degli aspetti personali, così la difficoltà era, naturalmente, sviluppare una certa relazione personale con Saskia, ma io la conoscevo da prima, così, …ehm… ciò fu più facile di quel che avrebbe potuto essere. E alla fine onestamente divenne solo pratica, come sono le riprese … ehm… vedi, tutte quelle sciocchezze, sciocchezze pseudo artistiche, vanno a farsi benedire … e ti ritrovi, perché quella fu la più calda estate che … voglio dire, il film fu benedetto in quel senso, perché venne sollevato in un’atmosfera sua propria, ogni giorno che ne avemmo bisogno ci fu questo sole cocente, molte volte più di quel che avevamo bisogno … vedi, noi filmavamo il pic-nic e il formaggio si scioglieva sul vestito, non lo potevamo mangiare poiché diventava gomma … ehm … e noi dovevamo utilizzare dei parasoli e si trasformò … ehm …. Cliveden e quella zona attorno al fiume in qualcosa di misterioso quasi come intorno a Beverly Hills, se ci fosse un fiume a Beverly Hills assomiglierebbe a quello. Alla fine, eri in continuazione messo a disagio dalla situazione.
Suppongo che la decisione che assunsi su Sinclair e il suo rapporto con il denaro fu che era nato per quello. Non era, vedi, non era un uomo che si è fatto da sé, in quel senso. Io penso che egli sia sicuramente capace negli affari, ma è qualcosa nel quale è immerso per tutta la sua vita. E così, allora, come molti inglesi della classe elevata hanno senso dell’umorismo e dell’ironia e menefreghismo verso il denaro …ehm … credo di essermene nutrito grandemente.
La vita sessuale di Sinclair è la vita sessuale di molti maschi inglesi credo … sai …. non lo conosco perché è un personaggio inventato, ma … ehm … quando andavo a scuola, in una scuola tutta di maschi, non c’era assolutamente nessuna educazione sessuale, solevamo chiedere al professore di religione “parlaci di sesso, signore” al posto della religione. Ed era … ed era più che altro in una sorta di provocazione … non era veramente per avere delle informazioni sebbene, suppongo che lo facessimo perché era un tipo responsabile. E sono sicuro che Sinclair viene dal quel background … è …. è solo ignoranza … e quando fa l’amore con sua moglie e poi si volta e legge un libro, non credo che sia espressione di un cuore duro o di un’anima insensibile … solo non sa [
