Cool. Because it was all over the internet that it is an auction. Is it just the collection as a whole or can you buy single items?

Hi @MelanieMaria. The collection is being offered as a whole, and we're looking for an institutional buyer so it can be kept together and enjoyed by everybody, forever. (The 'auction' thing came from the Daily Mirror, a UK newspaper, who got it wrong.)

E' un sollievo leggere che la collezione viene venduta in blocco e che stiano cercando un compratore istituzionale in modo tale che il materiale rimanga tutto insieme e fruibile a tutti!

Harry Potter papers reveal Alan Rickman was 'frustrated' by Snape

The personal papers of Alan Rickman reveal the late actor was "frustrated" by one of his most famous roles – Severus Snape, the sneering teacher of the Harry Potter films.
An archive of papers belonging to Rickman, who died in 2016, was presented for sale at this week's ABA Rare Book Fair in London – including a postcard from David Hayman, the producer who cast Rickman in the role of Snape.
"Thank you for making [2002's Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets] a success", Hayman writes. "I know, at times, you are frustrated but please know that you are an integral part of the films. And you are brilliant."
A note written by the actor while working on 2009's Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince suggests he was unhappy about the lack of attention given to his character. Until the heading "Inside Snape's Head", Rickman wrote: "It’s as if [the film's director] David Yates has decided that this is not important in the scheme of things i.e. teen audience appeal."
The full archive, which has been valued at £950,000, includes letters from the Prince of Wales, Bill Clinton and Tony Blair, as well as Harry Potter author JK Rowling, who thanks Rickman for "doing justice to my most complex character."
Other items in the archive include Rickman's copy of the script for his first film, 1988's Die Hard, in which he played the terrorist Hans Gruber.
The archive has been assembled by Bafta-nominated actor and bookseller Neil Pearson, working with Rickman's estate.
“It’s a fabulous collection," Pearson told the Mirror. “There are 35 boxes of it – there is the Truly Madly Deeply script in there and Robin Hood Prince Of Thieves is in there. Every single script of a play or film, all of his diaries and a massive amount of correspondence from pretty much every one you’ve ever heard of.”

Private letters show Alan Rickman frustrated in the role of Snape

Outside of maybe Die Hard or Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves, Snape in the Harry Potter series is Alan Rickman's most recognisable role. His performance in the role was hailed by author JK Rowling, who believed he defined the role in its infancy and helped to shape it in years to come. Longtime fans have always spoken how Rickman's performance so clearly mirrored Rowling's characterisation, to the point that it was almost as if he were written for the role. However, private letters now up for auction reveal that Rickman was frustrated in the role of Snape. In a postcard sent to Rickman by producer David Heyman, it reads: "Thank you for making HP2 a success. I know, at times, you are frustrated but please know that you are an integral part of the films. And you are brilliant."
Rickman's meticulous script notes also detail his doubts right up to 2009's The Half-Blood Prince, with one note singling out director David Yates for not giving one scene due care - "It’s as if David Yates has decided that this is not important in the scheme of things i.e. teen audience appeal."

The collection, which is valued at just under £950,000, also has a trove of notes and letters from fellow actors, including notes of thanks from Kate Winslet from their time together in A Little Chaos and postcards from Nicole Kidman, Daniel Radcliffe, as well as the original scripts for Die Hard and many more.

Harry Potter and the secrets of Snape: Archive papers reveal Alan Rickman's frustration at Hogwarts movie role

The actor who played Severus Snape had doubts over his role in the Potter films
A collection of his papers and letters include a Christmas card from JK Rowling
Also among the items are postcards from Daniel Radcliffe and Nicole Kidman

By Chris Hastings for The Mail on Sunday Published: 01:56 BST, 27 May 2018 | Updated: 05:13 BST, 27 May 2018

He was the hugely successful British actor who made surly professor Severus Snape one of the most watchable characters in the Harry Potter films and garnered widespread critical acclaim.
But behind the scenes, Bafta-winner Alan Rickman grew ‘frustrated’ with his Hogwarts role and was racked by doubts over his impact in the blockbuster films.

The actor, who died in 2016 aged 69 from pancreatic cancer, reveals his misgivings in his archive of personal papers covering more than 40 years on stage and screen.
The collection, with a price tag of £950,000, is being sold by the TV actor Neil Pearson, who has another career as a seller of rare books. The archive reveals how Rickman’s concerns about the role emerged in 2002, soon after he finished the second film in the series, Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets.

In a postcard, David Heyman, the producer who cast Rickman, told him: ‘Thank you for making HP2 a success. I know, at times, you are frustrated but please know that you are an integral part of the films. And you are brilliant.’
RADA-trained Rickman, who rose to fame with the Royal Shakespeare Company, was still having doubts about the character while working on 2009’s Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, the sixth film. On the set, he queried the character’s ‘narrative and character development’ by writing down his thoughts under the heading Inside Snape’s Head.
He wrote: ‘It’s as if [the director] David Yates has decided that this is not important in the scheme of things i.e. teen audience appeal.’
The star kept all eight of his Harry Potter scripts and they are in the sale. The archive reveals how Rickman built close relationships with author J. K. Rowling and his young co-star Daniel Radcliffe.
Shortly after the 2011 premiere of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2, the last film in the series, Rowling wrote: ‘Had to send a line about what you wrote in the souvenir programme for Hallows II. Made me very tearful. Thank you for doing justice to my most complex character.’

His archive also includes touching letters from co-stars including Kate Winslet, who starred with him in 2014’s A Little Chaos, which he also directed. She wrote: ‘Dearest Al with thanks for your guidance. I loved every second.’
Rickman was also an acclaimed stage actor, and another of his archived letters was sent by Hollywood star Nicole Kidman who watched him from the audience in a London production of Private Lives and later wrote: ‘Such a great performance – inspiring.’
Rickman starred in a host of other hit films, including Die Hard, Truly Madly Deeply, Robin Hood Prince Of Thieves and Love Actually.

Alan Rickman’s Archives for Sale, Including Letters from J.K. Rowling & his ‘Frustrations’ About Snape

May 27, 2018 Posted by: Rahul Basu

A newly available collection of documents from the late Alan Rickman’s personal archives reveals Rickman’s thoughts and frustrations about portraying Snape, letters from J.K. Rowling, old scripts and correspondences – even fan mail from a young Daniel Radcliffe!
The actor had kept correspondences, fan mail, interview excerpts and his own personal diaries in a collection that filled over 30 boxes, which will soon be on sale for about £950,000. Some of these include personal letters from celebrities including Prince Charles, Tony Blair and Bill Clinton. The collection also includes a huge number of Harry Potter scripts, correspondences and more, as well as premiere tickets and invitations, stationary signed by leading Chamber of Secret cast members, a Christmas card from J.K. Rowling (reading, ‘Just completed *the* Snape chapter. It is so very strange, finishing…’), action figure prototypes, notes and much more. Harry Potter‘s Emma Thompson (Professor Trelawney) also wrote to Rickman to praise his work on stage.

In one letter, it appears the Late Alan Rickman wasn’t always quite as fond of Snape as the rest of us – or so reveals a note written by him while working on 2009’s Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince! It suggests that he was not entirely pleased about the lack of attention given to Snape’s character and the development thereof. In a note entitled “Inside Snape’s Head”, Rickman wrote: “It’s as if David Yates has decided that this is not important in the scheme of things i.e. teen audience appeal.” Another postcard from David Heyman thanks Rickman for “…making HP2 a success. I know, at times, you are frustrated, but please know that you are an integral part of the films. And you are brilliant.’. The collection will give access to various letters between Rickman and Jo Rowling, in which Snape’s ‘character and development’ is explained in detail to the actor – who wouldn’t want to read that exchange!

See also his offer to portray Snape, from David Heyman, below:

Screenshot-2018-05-28-00.04.43

As previously reported by Leaky, a few letters from Daniel Radcliffe were also found in the archives, one of which happened to be a piece of fan mail from the young actor:

This collection also includes heavily annotated scripts of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves; Truly, Madly, Deeply; and his film debut, Die Hard. In a dialog with The Mirror , the collector and Waterloo Road and Bridget Jones star Neil Pearson says:
“It’s a fabulous collection. There are 35 boxes of it – there is the Truly Madly Deeply script in there and Robin Hood Prince Of Thieves is in there. Every single script of a play or film, all of his diaries and a massive amount of correspondence from pretty much every one you’ve ever heard of.”

UPDATE: @RareNeilPearson on Twitter responded to a question on our tweet, explaining that the ideal home for this collection is a national archive, for those worried about where these treasures might end up!
The collection was presented at the ABA Rare Book Fair (MUST). An entire catalogue of this collection can be found at Neil Pearson.

In caso, andate a dare un'occhiata.
