Qualche interessante notiziola.

Hey Harry Potter fans, now you can watch a Marauder story from J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world thanks to the fan film Severus Snape and the Marauders.

Just like the title states, the Severus Snape and the Marauders fan film looks at the relationship of Severus, James, Peter, Sirius and Remus. The main focus though, is on Severus and James’ bad blood because of Lily before the wizarding war begins.

Right from the get go the Marauders don’t dissapoint. James is clearly shown as the leader, Peter is a true mess and Remus is worried about being a werewolf.

The movie starts out as joyous as the boys are seen celebrating their time at Hogwarts as it comes to an end. Then things become serious when Lupin warns them of an empenfing war. Then James suggests that they send Snape a warning so he won’t mess with them once the battle begins.

Qui si parla anche di Alan Rickman; questi ragazzi non scherzano, lavorano seriamente!

'Severus Snape and the Marauders' must see film for all Harry Potter fans

TV Buzz spoke with Justin Zagri, writer/director of ‘Severus Snape and the Marauders’ and Mick Ignis who plays the younger Snape in the fan-produced crowd-funded production.

TV Buzz spoke with Justin Zagri, writer/director of ‘Severus Snape and the Marauders’ (#SSATM) and Mick Ignis who plays the younger Snape in the fan-produced crowd-funded production.

Although no one can replace Alan Rickman as Severus Snape in the ‘Harry Potter’ series, Mick Ignis as the younger Snape in the spin-off is certainly as close as it gets. The 25-minute short film is an unofficial prequel to the Harry Potter series – and it’s taking off within the fandom. It’s set in the year of 1978 and begins at a bar where we find a melancholic Snape drinking away his miseries and ‘obliviating’ the bartender who persists on seeing his ID. The Marauders (James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew) soon enter the same bar where trouble ensues, after Potter challenges Snape to an epic battle in the forest for Lily’s heart.

Trailer

Justin Zagri spoke to us about the production process, his concerns when conceptualising his idea, his thoughts on Alan Rickman and more below.

Screen_Shot_2016_03_04_at_10_04_56_AM

Why did you choose Snape as the main character for your spin off?
Well, I did a poll after the success of Greater Good, asking fans what they want to see. It was almost entirely Marauders that they wanted to see, and the most important scene we have with the Marauders while in school was Snape's Worst Memory. So their stories intertwine but I wanted the story to be from Snape's perspective. He is one of my favorite characters and for better or worse depending on who you ask, one of the most interesting.

Alan Rickman obviously passed away after most of the production had been finished – so what was going through your mind when you learnt that he had passed?
I was already having a tough week because of David Bowie passing, which is one of my favorite musicians/performers/rock stars of all time. I loved Alan Rickman in Harry Potter but he became one of my favorite actors because of Galaxy Quest. His incredible talent along with his demeanor as a person from what you read, makes him the kind of actor you admire and learn from. I would have been so happy if he saw this. It really hurt that he won't be able to see this now.

What was the casting process like - because I must say - you found the perfect Snape!
Casting was great because the people who came in were so excited to be auditioning for these roles. Finding everyone took time, but I was having a lot of trouble finding a good Snape. The look is very specific, so finding someone with the right look who could perform the part not only well but in their own way was proving difficult. I put out a shout on Facebook and a friend recommended Mick. He auditioned and did a good job, but only got better with every callback. When he did his big monologue with Garrett (James) and had his moment with Dani (Lily) I was ready to go with him.

Tell us about any concerns you had whilst conceptualizing your film and/or any problems you faced during production.
The fans have their own ideas of who these characters are in their youth, so it was a task to interpret these characters as fairly as possible. James especially, as many people have a higher opinion of him than I do from what I have read about him. I think he is a fascinating character who grew into a heroic young man, but was a pure bully as a teenager. This movie explored his transition from bully to a strong man, but also explored how he handles dealing with Snape as a genuine enemy, who represents a threat to him, his friends and his relationship with Lily. So he reacts in quite a cruel way, but his reasoning is justified on some level. So we will see how the fans react on the whole. So many obstacles faced this film [during production]. Potential legal implications from WB, a failed first crowdfunding campaign, all of post-production being paid for out of pocket, torrential downpour rain on the last day of shooting which happens maybe two weeks out of the year here in southern California, and lots of other little things. The bigger your ideas, the more obstacles get in your way. We finished this film completely only 24 hours before we premiered it and put it online.

How do you feel about the response you are getting for your film?
It feels amazing, and it is just getting started. The response for this film began before the film came out! We have already attended three conventions across the U.S. and it has been such a fun experience. The fans are so friendly and inviting and we love interacting with them. It's also a relief and very satisfying that people are reacting so well to the finished film.

Screen_Shot_2016_03_04_at_10_09_42_AM

Mick Ignis shared the same sentiments on how the fandom has been responding to the film: "I am completely overwhelmed and, honestly, a bit emotional about the whole thing. This film means a lot to all of us and we’ve spent a good 2 years with the project. To receive such positive and passionate responses makes everything worth it. This film couldn’t have been done without the fans and we’re all eternally grateful to them for helping us bring this vision to life." He also revealed what it was like playing the role of Snape.

What was it like portraying the younger Severus Snape?
An absolute honor…and a fun challenge! Severus Snape has become such an iconic character in Pop Culture and has a very distinct personality and energy. The thing is, so much of what made Snape the cold, isolated, and cynical character we all know and love is due to the tragic events that took place AFTER this film. At the time our story takes place, Snape is right out of school, still has a youthful but dark arrogance (that I feel mirrors James in a certain way), and is extremely conflicted about where he’s going to take his life. He was almost a completely new character to explore. Knowing the tragedies and mistakes that were in his future and the sort of man he would eventually become made diving in to his younger self all the more interesting.

I take it you're quite the fan of the Harry Potter series?
You know, I had a bit of a moment the other day when I walked to my bookshelf and picked up the copy of ‘Harry Potter and The Sorcerers Stone’ that my Dad gave me on Christmas 1999...those books meant the world to me as a kid. From the moment I started reading that first story, I didn’t put it down until I reached the last page. Then I made my Dad drive me to the bookstore for ‘Chamber of Secrets’, then ‘Prisoner of Azkaban’, and so on until I was 17 and waiting eagerly for the midnight release of ‘The Deathly Hallows’. So much of what I do today was inspired by that magical world I grew up in. Those books helped me through some very difficult times and were a true escape. Growing up and now being able to contribute a little something to this amazing story is something that 11-year-old kid obsessively reading through Sorcerers Stone could only dream of.

Bravo on that magnificent British accent – how long did it take for you to master it completely? Was there any training involved?
You know, it’s funny…I very rarely use my natural speaking voice in roles! I take on a lot of very physically transformative characters, often using heavy makeup and prosthetics that render me completely unrecognizable (creatures, monsters, aliens, and all other manner of oddities). So, with that physical change, I try to create a new voice to go with it. It really helps me get in to the part. At this point, all of my characters have been predominantly UK based, vocally, so I’ve had quite a bit of practice (I’ve done my fair share of Richard III monologues). I’m glad that people have enjoyed my Severus voice, as that was a big concern for fans in my interviews...as I sound hopelessly Californian.

Did you have to grow your hair out for the role?
Looking exactly like Justin imagined young Severus Snape probably didn’t hurt my chances of landing that role! Not only did I already have the long, bone-straight black hair at the audition but I also happened to be wearing the exact outfit he was envisioning as well (which I also wore for filming). I’ll be honest, this was NOT the first time I’ve received the Severus Snape comparison. I just recently chopped my hair down a bit, which is something I’ve wanted to do for a while now, but I think this film is a nice send off to those long locks and I’m sure they’ll return one of these days.

What’s next for Mick Ignis?
This entire experience has cemented my love for acting and portraying deep and fascinating characters like Severus. I have a few films scheduled for release this year, all of them featuring me as unspeakably terrifying monsters of some sort, but I’m now seeking to move on to the next phase of my career, looking in to working with new representation and exploring roles that will stretch me as an artist. I’m excited about where ‘Severus Snape and the Marauders’ will lead me and what’s next on this journey!

L'ho visto e mi é piaciuto veramente tanto!

Severus Snape and the Marauders Is The Harry Potter Prequel You’ve Been Waiting For

Warning: it will break your heart

Is Severus Snape good or bad? The question of Snape’s moral ambiguity is one all Harry Potter fans must answer for themselves. On one hand, he loved Lily Potter (née Evans) dearly and swore to protect Harry. On the other hand, however, he had an intense side gig with the Dark Lord going on the whole time. Alas, whether you call yourself a Snape apologist or not, I think we can all agree that unrequited love and a bad hairdo do not give you license to be a drab jerk for your entire adult life.
That being said, just try not to feel for the guy after watching this brilliant, fan-made Harry Potter prequel, Severus Snape and the Marauders. The 25-minute film was the brainchild of Los Angeles-based video editor Justin Zagri. It takes place in 1978, right before the First Wizarding War. We know Snape eventually joined the ranks of Lord Voldemort’s Death Eaters, but have you ever thought about what drove him into the Dark Lord’s horde? Severus Snape and the Marauders follows the tragic aftermath of Snape’s worst memory: calling Lily a mudblood.

Fresh out of Hogwarts, the Marauders — that’s James Potter, Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew, and Remus Lupin — meet in a pub for a couple of drinks. Then, Snape walks in and everything goes to hell. James wants to scare his Hogwarts nemesis one last time, so the Marauders challenge Snape to a duel — four on one. What happens next will break your heart.

It's been a year now. Next week we take the film to Sundance. I've spent several years now connected to this brilliant artist through this character. I will always mourn the conversation I was never able to have with him. Here's what I wrote that day.

This is very difficult to write. I never had a chance to meet this brilliant man. I didn't know him personally. I wish I did. Like so many, I admired him through his masterful work and the beloved characters he brought to life. His portrayals influenced me greatly as I tried to find my own voice. His dry wit, sarcasm, intensity, truthful vulnerability, and skill with sweeping an audience in to a scene has always been nothing short of inspiring. Hans Gruber was the sort of villain I craved to play, Metatron in 'Dogma' had this perfectly delivered sense of humor that I've always loved so much...but it is, of course, his portrayal of Severus Snape that played such a major role in my childhood. This dark, tortured, calculating, complicated, brilliant portrayal was (forgiving my pun) absolutely spellbinding. I was astounded watching Alan bring this character from the pages of the books I adored to the screen. I knew I would always love this character and this actor playing him. What I didn't know yet was that, one day, I would get the opportunity to explore and portray this character that Alan spent so much time with.
As I dove in to Severus Snape, I made certain NOT to rewatch the movies. I didn't want to copy what Alan had done. I knew, as the truly authentic actors actor that he was, he wouldn't recommend I look at someone elses performance of the same character to influence my own interpretation. I did not want to steal from his own character work. Instead, I went back to the source material. I analyzed the script. I tried to use the same amount of information that he was given and nothing more. I tried to understand who this Half Prince was. What his life was like off the page. What his motivations were, what he hoped to achieve, what was going through his head when he made these decisions he would eventually deeply regret, how he felt about every character that he shared a scene with on an immersive level. And, along the way, I imagined Alan Rickman doing the same thing when he was first assigned this character. The work that HE had put in. The passion behind it. The commitment. And it encouraged me to do the same.
I knew how much this art meant to him. As he once said, in an inspiring quote: "Actors are agents of change. A film, a piece of theater, a piece of music, or a book can make a difference. It can change the world.". It definitely changed mine.
I wish you could have seen this little movie we made. I wish I could have spoken with you about it. I hope you would have enjoyed it.
Thank you for the inspiration, Mr. Rickman. I'll look up to you...always.

Wands up.

Davvero delle belle parole. Per Alan e per Severus . :lovelove:
