| Ecco il pezzo scritto sotto il video, a mo' di riassunto, che mi ha aiutato a comprendere meglio le parole di Yates.
Apparently it was no easier to edit for director David Yates than it was for us to sit in the theaters without tears trickling down our cheeks. Yates told MTV News that the scene was originally a lot longer and more linear, but he felt that cutting it down and shaping it differently lent itself to the movie much more.
"It didn't feel quite like a memory. It wasn’t quite evocative enough," Yates said. "I think we were telling too much story basically, so by fragmenting it, it just became oddly more moving ultimately."
The original sequence had a lot more conversation between Snape and Dumbledore, but Yates found that the memories had too much exposition and that was hurting the emotional impact of the scene. Instead, as those who have seen the movie will know, the memories are revealed in a non-linear fashion, with the final reveal of Snape holding a dead Lily Potter being all the more heart-breaking because of it.
"Rather than discovering things, you were being told things, so we took out anything that told you too much, and we crafted it so you just hopefully felt it," Yates said.
What certainly helped viewers "feel it" was the amazing performance by Alan Rickman. The older generation of actors within "Harry Potter" have always pulled out the big guns for the franchise, but Rickman's performance in "Deathly Hallows: Part 2" is arguably the best of the entire series. With its huge box office numbers and great critical response so far, "Part 2" is already getting some serious Oscar buzz, and we think it's high time to start petitioning for Rickman to get a Best Supporting Actor nod.
Did you find the Snape's memories scene effective? Would you like to see Alan Rickman get some Oscar attention for this performance? Let us know in the comments section below or on Twitter!
